learn more about how thoughts affect feelings. You must be at least eighteen years old to participate. This study will be conducted by Dr. Raymond DiGiuseppe of
the Psychology Department at St. John's University. If you agree to participate
in this study, you will be asked to do the following:
1) Complete a questionnaire about your background (age, gender, education,
2) Given certain situations, complete a questionnaire regarding the thoughts you would have in that situation, and thoughts you generally have in everyday life.
3) Complete a questionnaire about your recent emotional state(s).
Participation in this study will involve about 20-30 minutes of your time. There are no direct benefits to you for participating in this research. In addition, there are no known risks associated with your participation in this research beyond those of everyday life. Although you will receive no direct benefits, this research might help the investigator better understand which thoughts lead to the experience of various emotions. Confidentiality of your research records will be strictly maintained by keeping the information you provide anonymous, and restricting the access to information to the principal investigator and the research assistants working on the project.
Participation in this study is voluntary. You may refuse to participate or withdraw at any time without penalty.
If there is anything about the study or your participation that is unclear, or that you do not understand, or if you have questions, or wish to report a research-related problem, you may contact Dr. Raymond DiGiuseppe at (718) 990-1955 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
